"Old but still going strong"

The HG70 (as in Shimano Hyperglide) is compatible with Shimano 7 and 8 speed systems. This means it is suitable for 1999 105 drivetrains and earlier as well as 8-speed Deore and LX mountain bike drivetrains. As you'd expect it works best when integrated with Shimano systems. The 7 and 8 speed compatibility means the chain going to be more common on older bikes but it's a small price to pay for a replacement chain that works well. It uses Shimano's special joining pins, there are two supplied with the chain.
