Specialized All Condition Pro

BikeRadar verdict

4 out of 5 stars

"Good grip and rolling resistance."

By Dan Joyce

The All Condition Pro is a training tyre like the Michelin. It's an equally lightweight skinwall, with a Kevlar bead and a Kevlar/elastomer breaker strip that Specialized call FlakJacket. It's not quite as hard to pierce as the Michelin Krylion, but it's still pretty good. (A tougher Armadillo version is available as well.)

There's some tread on the shoulders and a raised centrerolling strip. The fact that the latter was 'inspired by motorcycle tyres' is probably about as relevant as animal paws to bicycles, but the centre-rolling strip idea is sound enough on a tyre that isn't completely slick and it didn't slow it down any. Rolling performance was good, roughly equal to the Michelin Krylion in our tests. Grip was fine and it cornered fine too. Interestingly, it's available in a 1in version for mountain bikes, a 26in slick that would give the Gatorskin a run for its money.
