Kenda Kwick Roller Sport | £10.99
BikeRadar verdict
"Good value, reasonable rolling street tyre"
The Kwick Roller Sport is essentially a street tyre for urban mountain bikes or - in this size - hybrids. It will also serve on commuting road bikes with enough clearance or as a recreational tyre, although it's a bit narrow for touring. It's a wire-beaded gumwall, but the rubber is pretty thin and supple on the sidewalls.
Rolling performance was better than we predicted, despite its tread and a maximum pressure rating of just 85psi. In 26in it would make a fair alternative to cheap slicks like the WTB Slickasaurus or Nokian City Runner. In 700C, we'd be tempted to spend a few quid extra on something faster or tougher.
The Kwick Roller Sport does have a puncture-resistant sub-tread but it's not that hard to penetrate with sharp stuff, while the sidewalls aren't protected. There is a dynamo track, which is good news for utility use.
Its main virtue, however, is its price: if that's your priority - because you're building up a street hack, for example - it's worth considering.
