Panaracer Pasela TG | $26.46
BikeRadar verdict
"Good value, lightweight touring tyre that’s also fairly tough"
Despite its wire bead, the 700 X 28C Panaracer Pasela TG is a very light touring tyre. The sidewalls feel skin-thin but didn’t slash open with our glass test.
Out on the road it rolls well, and is only marginally slower than the Continental Top Contact.
Puncture protection is good for its weight, thanks to some sturdy reinforcement provided by a Kevlar belt under the tread. There’s a wide range of sizes available, and in the narrower widths it’s also viable as a training or long-distance commuting tyre.
In its 700x25C incarnation it's viable as a training or fast commuting tyre.
It's available in a large range of sizes, and in the larger widths should be able to handle rougher surfaces better than full slicks. For those situations, we'd prefer the more expensive Panaracer Urban Max, which has a 'hypertex' casing to add sidewall protection, but for the money this is as good.

This review is wrong
The TG version of the tyre has a folding bead made of something like kevlar
The TG version is lighter and more expensive than the standard version
SJS Cycles and Spa Cycles both stock both types of tyre, phone them and ask them
I've used the TG version for a couple of years now

Great tyres, did Paris-Roubaix sportive on the 28's and they were great, got a pair of 25's on my fixer too.
It always cracks me up when reviews use these hackneyed saying things like 'they roll well'; you'll find most round things roll well including oil barrels and hula hoops, you might as well say that tyre A had 'good air'. An example of lazy journalism Mr Joyce!

that's a bit unfair. I would agree with him that some tyres have a better feel than others, particularly heavy stiff ( cheap)tyres v. light flexible racers of the same size and pessure.
I do like pasela's.I feel more confident about the grip than on for example m dynamics.My32's give a smooth ride at 90psi.

Had these fitted on to my bike and had to bin them after a week, they seem to produce vibration, which in turn numbed my hands after only four miles ( this makes for an uncomfortable 16 miles) I tried playing with the pressure with no joy. I now run a smoother tread tyre
