Vuelta Chromelite
BikeRadar verdict
"An average weight wheelset with no performance vices"
The rims used here are 300mm semi-aero section while the spokes are 4.5mm bladed stainless items (24 front, 24 rear) with a black chrome finish.
The nipples are non-locking but the spoke tension was high out of the box. Both wheels were only slightly out of true when we got them, and stayed that way. The hubs are well sealed; although the rear one initially felt rough, it has worn in to become smoother.
That rear hub is a well thought out five bearing unit with plenty of freehub support and quick engaging pawls. With an average weight they perform well out on the roads, if a little harshly. Side winds proved no problem and the handling never felt draggy or sluggish.

User review of Vuelta Chromelite
Got a set but I have to say that the finish on these wheels is APPAULINGLY bad. First dont even try to clean the rims with anything but soap and water as the transfer bit (The Vuelta Chrome writing) comes off and looks horrid - then theres the red sticker you can just see which dont come off - and then there is the spokes.
The black ones I have are really bad and started to rub off in my hand - so eventually I just decided to clean the whole things off by using some silver polish to turn them bright silver again!
Come on Vuelta this really is a poor show on a product half as much again as the Mavic Aksium.
