Argon 18 road and time trial bikes 2014 – Eurobike 2013

By Warren Rossiter | Wednesday, August 28, 2013 9.00am

Argon 18 have officially launched their 2014 collection of road and time trial bikes, with the E-112 TT rig, updated Gallium Pro and price-busting Krypton as highlights. Read on for more information. Availability is to be announced.

E-112 time trial bike

The E-112 shares plenty of design features with the highly respected E-118 time trial frame. Argon 18 claim that the new high modulus carbon layup adds stiffness while reducing weight. The frame features the same 3D head tube as the road models, but also a reversible seatpost to switch between 76- and 78-degree seat angles. Internal cable routing for mechanical or electronic groups tops off the features list.

i-ride are offering the E-112 as a complete bike with Shimano 105, Fulcrum Racing Quattro wheels, Continental Force/Attack tyres and 3T’s Aura Pro tri bar and ARX Pro stem. It’s topped off with a Prologo Tri 40 saddle. The build is priced at £2,399.99.

Gallium Pro

Argon 18 have totally redesigned their top-of-the-range road frame for next year. The all-new Gallium Pro is claimed to offer a much-improved level of stiffness through the drivetrain. With massive asymmetric chainstays and a new BB86 bottom bracket shell, it certainly looks purposeful. The frame is also significantly lighter, at a claimed 790g for a small size – the medium model we got our hands tipped the scales at 800g.

The unique interlocking threaded headset stack and 3D head tube arrangement remains, allowing you to adjust bar height without compromising front end stiffness with excessive steerer tube spacers.

The 3d head tube of the new argon 18 gallium pro means you can adjust bar height without compromising front end stiffness:

The Gallium is based around Argon’s unique AFS geometry, which reduces bottom bracket drop to 75mm and lowers head tube height. This, they claim, makes for a more aerodynamic ride position without sacrificing rider comfort.

Krypton

Just a few years ago, Argon 18’s Krypton was the Canadian company’s flagship road bike. But with the new lightweight Gallium now occupying the top berth, the Krypton has become the brand’s most affordable road model.

It still features the innovative 3D head tube and is created with high-grade high modulus carbon. The Shimano 105-equipped model will be available for £1,999.99, with Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels, finishing kit from 3T, a Prologo saddle and Continental tyres.
