Blog: The unbeatable Alberto Contador?

As the clock winds down on the 2008 Giro d'Italia, and with the major climbing stages behind, it's readily apparent that there seems to be no stopping Alberto Contador from wearing pink into Milano next weekend.

This performance, from a man caught 'relaxing on the beach' when his Astana team was called to participate one week before the major tour kicked off in Palermo May 10, has been quietly disarming.

Giro boss Angelo Zomegnan has been hearing complaints about everything from lengthy transfers between races to absurdly tough climbs, but as most tifosi would admit, the 2008 Giro has been nothing short of entertaining, and the crowds have been packing in at every stage.
