Campagnolo Experience package cycling tour launched

Visitors to be given exclusive factory access

Italian gruppo manufacturers Campagnolo have launched a cycling holiday that starts with a popular Rome gran fondo and finishes with a tour of the company’s Vicenza factory, which is usually off limits to the public.

Along the way, tourists will “experience the Italian culture, roads and races that instilled cycling culture into the company’s DNA”, during several hard days in the saddle.

People will be able to tour the factory, in north-east Italy, and see how each component is made. The Campagnolo Experience is organised by Thomson Bike Tours, and includes entry to the Granfondo Campagnolo Roma, to be held on Sunday 13 October 2013.

The company are celebrating their 80th birthday this year and were founded by Tullio Campagnolo. He patented the quick-release skewer after struggling to undo his back wheel to flip it over to a lighter gear in a race during his athletic career. “This rear wheel thing needs changing!” he exclaimed.

Earlier this month we took a look at the company's 80th anniversary boxed groupset.

For more information on the cycling tour see the Campagnolo website.
