The new Cervélo P2 time trial bike Cervélo
A new version of the entry level Cervélo P2 time trial and triathlon frame has been launched, offering buyers plenty of position adjustment and good upgrade potential.
The progenitor of the P2 was ridden to Ironman victories by Chrissie Wellington on a couple of occasions, so there’s little room to doubt the frame’s fundamental aero qualities. But this has been redesigned too and the latest version is more akin to the P3 and P5 looks. The new P2 shares tube shapes from the upper end P-series bikes and the seat-tube’s scalloping now runs from the new cervelo standard BBBright bottom bracket to the rear brake. The fork is also better integrated and some cabling has been routed internally.

The latest P2 iteration – it’s been around for seven years – is now fitted with a Shimano build featuring 105 derailleurs, Tiagra cassette and Dura-Ace bar-end shifters. It’s also been given the ports to accommodate Di2 components if and when they’re wanted. Wheels are Shimano R500 – not great, but serviceable and ripe for a first upgrade.
The spec is finished with Profile Design components including a T2 Wing in the cockpit, a light 50/34 FSA Gossamer crankset and a Fi’zi:k Arione Tri2 saddle.
The bike retails for £2,499/US$2,800.
