Chris Hoy backs charity Paris ride

Britain’s Olympic hero Chris Hoy is calling on cyclists to get into gear for RNID, the charity for deaf and hard of hearing people, and enjoy their own golden moments cycling from London to Paris.

Hoy, who added Beijing gold medals in the keirin, the team sprint and individual sprint to the gold he won in the kilometre time trial at Athens in 2004, is urging cyclists to saddle up for the 300km cycle on 26–29 June 2009.

Chris says: “Get on your bike and enjoy the breath-taking experience of cycling from London to Paris for RNID. It’s a great way to get yourself fit, meet new people and help change the world for deaf and hard of hearing people.

“You don’t need to cycle at record-breaking speed – you can choose to pick up the pace or just enjoy a leisurely ride past some wonderful scenery.”

Places in RNID’s team are available to prospective fundraisers on a first come, first served basis by paying a registration fee of £150 and raising a minimum of £1,000. Cyclists who sign up before 30 September will receive a 15 per cent discount on their registration fee. The money raised will be used to support the charity's campaign work and range of services for deaf and hard of hearing people around the UK.
