Contador to undergo surgery
Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador, winner of this year's tours of Italy and Spain, will undergo an operation on Monday on his nose and his vocal chords, his spokesman said.
"As a result of a fall, I believe in the Giro, my glasses were pushed into into my nose and from then on I noticed I was having some breathing problems," Contador said in a statement.
Contador will undergo surgery at a hospital in Madrid, following which he will be unable to speak for several days.
It will "be uncomfortable and will prevent me training normally," he said, adding he hoped his next race would be the Vuelta a Valencia in February.
Contador claimed the Tour of Spain in September to join a select club of riders to have won all three of the sport's major Tours.

When is there going ot be a UCI reg against plastic surgery?
Armstrong had a bit of a drastic approach to weight loss, I mean losing bits of your brain and reproductive organs to be quicker uphill?
Lipo suction could have saved Ullrich form being always second though....
Daniella Westbrook-style noses could become the fashion for improved oxygen uptake.
People with big ears could get ear-tuck opertions to aid aerodynaics - then flying squirrel type webs will be developed for Testers.
The mind boggles!
