Lizzie Armitstead and Dame Sarah Storey to ride Glasgow round of Revolution series

Commonwealth and Olympic champions return to Glasgow for round four of the Revolution track racing series

Lizzie Armitstead and Dame Sarah Storey will return to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on 31 January for round four of the Revolution series.

Following Commonwealth gold on the road in Glasgow earlier this summer, Armitstead will be riding the boards this time. She said: “I’m excited to be returning to Glasgow after the amazing memories this summer at the Commonwealth Games. This time it will be on the track and I’m looking forward to racing at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. I was there last season commentating on the TV so it will be good to be part of the action this time round.”

World and paralympic champion Dame Sarah Storey will offer tough competition for Armitstead, having beaten Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Katie Archibald to become National Points Race Champion in September.

The Revolution series will be the first major event to be hosted at the velodrome since the Commonwealth Games. Scottish fans will also have the chance to cheer on two homegrown teams, Team Scotland and Rigmar Racers, who are racing as part of the elite championship. The latter team includes National Sprint Champion Callum Skinner.

The 12th season of the Revolution Series kicked off with Round 1 at the Lee Valley VeloPark last weekend. Laura Trott and Marianne Vos battled it out for the Women’s Omnium title. Full highlights of the weekend’s racing can be watched online on 4OD.
