No Italian 'cross champs for Franzoi

Top Italian cyclo-crosser Enrico Franzoi will miss this weekend's Italian national cyclo-cross championships in Scorzè (Venice).

The 25 year-old Liquigas rider is still suffering from an ankle injury he sustained during the world cup race in Koksijde last November, and he doesn't want to jeopardise his chances for the world championships on January 27th.

"Unfortunately, I must give up the Italian Championships," he said. "I hope to recover my top form before the world championships. That appointment on the Bandie circuit is the main objective of my season."
