Médecins du Monde (MdM) are hoping their third London to Paris
bike ride will build on the success of last year’s event which raised £39,000
for the charity.
The ride links the work carried out at MdM’s offices in both Paris and London
where healthcare projects are offered to marginalised groups of people who
cannot access mainstream healthcare services.
MdM is perhaps best known, however, for sending volunteers to the
third world to provide medical care to vulnerable people who have been affected
by natural disasters, armed conflict and extreme poverty. The agency was founded in 1980 by a
group of 15 French doctors who broke away from
Médecins Sans Frontières.
This year’s ride will leave London
on Saturday, July 12 and arrive at the Eiffel
Tower in Paris by late afternoon on Monday, July 14 in time for the city’s Bastille
Day celebrations. Logistics are being
arranged by Classic Tours www.classictours.co.uk and for an
information pack email email bike@medecinsdumonde.org.uk
or phone Anne or Elsa on 020 7515 7534.
