Ride the Goodwood motor circuit

By Mark Appleton

One of the many attractions of a fund raising day for the Winston’s Wish charity at Goodwood motor racing circuit on June 8 will be the chance to put your road bike through its paces without worrying about motor traffic.

Cyclists will have access to historic race track as part of a varied programme of events for the charity which helps bereaved children nationwide through its unique helpline.

“Children need a great deal of help and support to aid their understanding of what has happened and help them move forward and grow into resilient adults,” explains the charity’s Clare Scherer. “Fundraising events are vital to ensure we can maintain services and, in fact, we need to expand still further to meet a growing demand.”

The massive day out for the family Goodwood will be followed in August by a summer ball in Arundel.

Winston’s Wish is urging everyone to come along and have a great day. “Bring the family, friends, neighbours and colleagues,” says Antonia Stringer from Winston’s Wish. “Or even come on your own and have some fun in the sun and help raise vital funds for kids in desperate need.”

The fun at Goodwood starts at 10am and entry is £8 on the day, but just £5 in advance – so act soon and save money. There will be a bouncy castle, fun stalls, a big balloon race, and delicious refreshments – or enjoy a picnic on the beautiful lawns.

The Black Tie and Diamond Ball at the Hilton Avisford Park hotel, in Arundel, on Saturday 16 August. The £80 tickets are already being snapped up by businesses and individuals.
