The detour is much more enjoyable instead of the old A74 which was always horrendously busy anyway. Did my LEJOG a few weeks ago, the diversion is clearly signposted, i dunno why anybody would want to cycle through the road works and i can understand the restrictions given the danger of trying to overtake a cyclist in the narrow, coned lanes of a contraflow. You get a much more pleasant photo stop at the border too!
