Storck Scentron - Just in

By John Whitney in Bath, UK | Friday, June 22, 2012 8.15am

Storck scooped Cycling Plus magazine's Bike of the Year in 2011 with their Scenero, a bike they described as having "spark". While the latest road bike Storck have sent to BikeRadar is priced well out of that test's £1,000-£2,000 range, it's still well worth your attention.

Billed as being equally at home racing, training or touring, the one-piece carbon Scentron frame is a model up from the Scenero at £1,699 (frame, fork and headset). The complete bike shown here costs considerably more than the Scenero, with a Stiletto Race SL fork, 68mm BSA bottom bracket, carbon dropouts and full Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset (53-39T chainset, 11-25T cassette).

While the frame may indeed be an all-rounder, this setup – particularly the gearing – might not be every tourist's idea of fun.

The rims shown here are from German brand Tune (TSR 27s) but the bike will typically be supplied with Mavic wheels from Storck UK and their UK custom bike division, Poshbikes. Many of the cockpit components are Storck's own, including the ST139 stem, alloy Syntace Racelite handlebar and 185 Ultra Comfort carbon post (220g, 31.6x400mm). The saddle is a Storck-branded Prologo Nago Evo, while tyres are Schwable's Ultremo ZX. Total weight on this build in 7.36kg.

The full factory build price, with Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels, is £4,327, with a choice of compact or standard gearing. Should you choose the Tune TSR 27s, a wheel Poshbikes say is lighter, stiffer and faster than the Mavics, you'll pay an extra £580.

Through Poshbikes, full builds start from £3,500 and top out at over £9,000 with Campagnolo Super Record EPS. The bike can be tested out at Storck's new UK concept store in Maidstone.
