The Race of Truth to air on British Eurosport

Half hour documentary on British time trialling

British Eurosport will be airing The Race of Truth, a documentary on time trialling, at 8:30 on Thursday 4 July. The program will be repeated several times throughout the Tour de France.

The 30-minute documentary, commissioned by Cycling Time Trials, features British time trial champion Alex Dowsett, as well as Sandy Gourley from Cornwall and Caroline Harding from London. It's a unique look into the sport and shows how the riders' families, work, race day rituals and races knit together.

Alex Dowsett said: "If it wasn't for the CTT’s time trial scene we have in the UK I certainly would not be able to have carved a career out of a sport I love. I really hope this documentary inspires the younger generation to have a go at a 10-mile time trial, like I did, and encourages more people to simply get outside, get exercising and get on their bikes."

Michael Hutchinson, Irish and multiple CTT champion and executive producer on the film, said: "It's no coincidence that all the British riders who've worn the yellow jersey in the Tour de France – from Simpson to Wiggins – started their racing careers with time trials. This is a timely and beautiful film about the most accessible, fascinating and personally rewarding part of cycle sport."

The film has a website to encourage new time triallists into the sport. See www.theraceoftruth.org.uk.
