As we reported at the Tour de France, Wilier Triestina has given its flagship Cento 1 road bike a major overhaul for 2013 – an all new frame with aero touches, dubbed the Wilier Triestina Cento 1 SR.

The swoopy lines of the now four-year-old Cento 1 have been replaced by a boxier, chunkier – but not unattractive – looking Toray 60T carbon frame. It’s especially beefy looking at the front.

Wilier says that the extra material around the headtube effectively increases its length and, therefore, stiffness. In fact, it's claiming increased lateral stiffness of around 40 percent over the outgoing model.

The forks and seat-tube feature Kamm Tail shaping to offer extra aerodynamic edge, there’s a huge BB386EVO bottom bracket and assymetric chainstays and the cabling is all very neat and tidy – entering the wide downtube under a removable access panel.

In the UK a Campagnolo Athena 11-speed model with Fulcrum Racing Quattro wheels will be the only complete bike option at £3,499. The frame only price is £2,399 and it’ll be available in six colours and sizes.
