Aero road bike that's pinker than the Giro d'Italia leader's jersey

UK custom build brand WyndyMilla dropped by yesterday to show us their latest bike – this outrageously pink aero bike, the Foo Fighter.

The Surrey-based company, whose past hits include the Massive Attack and the Lightning Seed, unveiled the Foo Fighter last month when it announced it would again be sponsoring a small domestic race team this year.

This £7,500 rig – a price that'll take the wind out of most people's sails – is destined for team duties, so we were privileged to have it in the office before it left for its higher calling.

The frame is UK designed, Italian made, and brought back to these isles to be painted by Ooey Custom, which, whether you're a fan of dazzling pink or not, did an incredible job on this frame.

Beneath the snazzy paintwork, the Foo Fighter's aero credentials include an internally routed rear brake cable, a slightly kamm-tailed tube profile, a Shimano Dura-Ace direct mount rear brake and a Forza Fast Fork. Look familiar? It should, because the open-mould design, with the front brake integrated into the trailing edge, is usually a feature on Ridley's Noah and Dean Fast bikes. We're told WyndyMilla customises its batch of Foo Fighter forks slightly to improve tyre clearance. It will take a 25mm tyre though.

This Foo Fighter was dripping in expensive accoutrements: a full Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 transmission, Rotor Q-Rings with the £45 bolt covers, carbon bars, Reynolds Aero Wheels (56 back, 48 front) and a Fi'zi:k Antares 00 saddle.

The weight of this model as seen is 7.2kg, we're told, but if you were to up the ante and fit some lightweight tubulars, WyndyMilla says it'll hit the UCI minimum weight requirement of 6.8kg.
