Stefan Schumacher signs with QuickStep

By BikeRadar & AFP

Germany's Stefan Schumacher, who won both time trial stages of this year's Tour de France, has signed a two-year contract to ride for QuickStep next season, it was announced on Thursday.

With his previous team Gerolsteiner set to disband at the end of the year, the 27-year-old, who won a bronze medal winner at the world road race championships in Stuttgart last year, is delighted to sign for the Belgium-based outfit. Schumacher joins Classic specialists Tom Boonen and Stijn Devolder.

“I’m looking forward to be part of this world class team,” Schumacher said.

According to QuickStep director Patrick Lefevere: “The arrival of Stefan Schumacher will further add to the internationalism of our team and enhance the technical ability of the team. Over the past years he has proved to be an excellent all-round athlete able to stand out in the time trials and uphill climbs during both one day races and the great stage races.”
