In the latest issue of MBUK, which is on sale now, we caught up with an old friend. Marc ‘Slugger’ Beaumont rode for our MBUK race team between ’05 and ’08 and after a bit of a break from racing he’s now back at it.
Slugger took us riding at his local stomping grounds in Shropshire as part of our Roots to Success series — where we try and find out more about the landscapes that have shaped some of the best riders in the world. You can read all about Marc’s story on p.62 of this month’s mag.
If you’re after something more exotic than Shropshire then how about a high altitude epic in the Himalayas? We sent Rupert Fowler to Nepal to take part in the highest altitude MTB race on earth — the Yak Attack. Imagine how you'd feel at the top of a big hill and times that by 20! Read about his experiences on p.80.
Back at home, the MBUK Wrecking Crew has been busy, sampling trails and putting both bikes and kit through their paces. We took a trip out to Cannock Chase to see how good the riding is on the doorstep of the UK’s second biggest city and put four short travel 29ers head to head.
In-between all that we still managed to find time for a whistle-stop trip to Italy to check out Alpinestars HQ with previous Enduro World Series winner Jerome Clementz. Read about his involvement with the company and his development of custom kit on p.71.
Of course, on top of this you’ve got our regular Out Front and Uplift sections, where you’ll find our pick of the top goings on in the MTB world, plus grouptests, a Big Ride outing and How To tips to help you fine tune your skills…
What more could you want? Well how about a free waterproof wallet and a promotional offer for Strava Premium included with every issue?
