Shutt VR Pro bib short review

Simple, fuss-free design

BikeRadar score3/5

Compared to other shorts the Shutts look simple. The coolmax Lycra continues into the braces and over the shoulders, and mesh on the lower back aids ventilation. The pad is excellent too. It has a complex multi-density, multi-thickness design and should fit your form and stay in place.

The expanse of Lycra extending into the bib makes for warm shorts too, making them ideal for a British summer or spring, though on the hottest days we felt a little cooked. We’d recommend the fit and comfort but if you want shorts for the continent then look elsewhere.

Simon has been cycling for as long as he can remember, and more seriously since his time at university in the Dark Ages (the 1980s). This has taken in time trialling, duathlon and triathlon and he has toured extensively in Asia and Australasia, including riding solo 2900km from Cairns to Melbourne. He now mainly rides as a long-distance commuter and leisure/fitness rider. He has been testing bikes and working for Cycling Plus in various capacities for nearly 20 years.
