Nalini Squalo 1 bib tights review

Great wind protection

BikeRadar score4/5

The wind-protection panels that extend down the front of these tights to well below the knee are almost as stretchy as the other deep, fleecy sections, so you get plenty of insulation – these are suitable for even really cold weather.

The seatpad is a winner too: although synthetic, it feels like an old-style soft leather chamois, contoured to provide effective low-bulk cushioning and perforated for good air conditioning.

The pulls on the ankle zippers lock in place and silicone grippers stop the legs riding up, while a small amount of reflective trim down there is eye-catching at night.

Double-thickness fabric at the back of the bib stops draughts around your kidney area, although the front is cut fairly low – which is just as well because you don’t get a zip. Not all the seams are flat-stitched but we had no issues with rubbing during our tests.
