The UCI and Look Cycle International have entered into a partnership that will see race bikes distributed to cash strapped national cycling federations keen to develop their cycling programmes.
Announced at the Track World Championships in Manchester, the “UCI Bikes for the World presented by Look” programme will see 100 road and track bike frames plus pedals, seatposts, track stems and handlebars donated each year for four years by the French manufacturer, with other UCI sponsors supplying the remaining components.
Federations interested in participating in the programme will, however, be required to set up UCI-recognised training programmes such as courses for coaches and training camps for riders.
Look has been a major UCI partner since 2002, supplying equipment to the UCI’s World Cycling Centre (WCC) which aims to develop cycling around the world. The WCC has assisted in the training of some 600 riders since opening its doors, many of whom have reached elite status and continue to ride Look bikes.
