Swiss BMC GF01 disc-equipped classics bike takes the win for 2015

The BMC GF01 Disc 105 endurance road bike has scooped Cycling Plus magazine’s Bike of the Year 2015 awards. The Swiss bike, which costs approx AU$4,800, but sadly isn't sold in Australia, beat off stiff opposition from the Giant Propel Advanced Pro 2, Trek Domane 5.2, GT Grade Carbon 105 and Cannondale Synapse Ultegra Disc.

Issue 300 of Cycling Plus – which features a new look as well as the full BOTY coverage – hits digital newsstands today. There’s over 40 percent off digital editions of the magazine through Google PlayiTunes and Zinio.

Here are a few snippets on the BMC from the judge, Cycling Plus senior tech editor, Warren Rossiter:

“Every year we say that the decision becomes harder and harder and, guess what, this year it’s the hardest ever. The truth is, the top five shootout is as close as it’s ever been.

“The BMC smooths surfaces with hollow, oversized chainstays that kick up towards the dropouts and slender vibration- absorbing seatstays.

“When the roads get twisty, the BMC’s racing heritage shines through. It basically goes where you point it – no dramas.

“Fat tyres, wide wheels and excellent disc brakes induce masses of confidence on descents.”

We’ll have the full review on BikeRadar soon – keep an eye on our Bike of the Year 2015 hub page.
