Kiddimoto wants your child's help with its next helmet design

Competition will see new design go into production, and it's all for a good cause

BikeRadar recently met with Kiddimoto at Bristol Children’s Hospital, where the brand is working with the charity Above and Beyond to create a new helmet design.

Just a stone's throw from the BikeRadar UK offices, Bristol Children’s Hospital treats 88,000 patients every year and one of the charities that supports the hospital, Above and Beyond, has teamed up with balance bike company Kiddimoto to offer children aged 5–15 a chance to design a helmet.

The winning entry will be put into production, and as well as being available in a variety of retailers and online in time for Christmas, £5 from each helmet will go to the hospital charity, which raises funds for projects that "improve the hospital environment, support ground breaking research to deliver the treatments of tomorrow, provide specialist medical training and recognition for staff and state-of-the-art equipment."

Those interested in entering should download the design sheet here, get your creative juices flowing and then send the completed sheet via email or post — the competition closes at 23:45 on 31 August.

The BMX-style helmets come in two sizes and are shipped with extra padding to ensure a secure fit. The two size options offered are 48–53 cm and 53–58cm for a small and medium respectively.

A rear adjustment wheel means that the helmet won’t be grown out of in a few months and the straps are fully adjustable. Eleven air vents should provide ample cooling, while the array of design options should suit everyone's tastes. Each helmet is also customisable, with an option to add your child's name.

Kiddimoto currently offers 16 different helmet designs and prices start at £27.50.

As well as an array of wheeled options for kids to get into cycling, Kiddimoto also offers a range of gloves, bells and backpacks for kids, alongside the helmets.
