Children's bike specialists Islabikes have unveiled a new dedicated off-road superlight 'Creig' kid's mountain bike with a striking lime green colourscheme.

Available with either 24-inch or 26-inch wheels, the new ride also features an air-tuned suspension fork, SRAM 10-speed grip shift and a modified frame to suit a 140mm rotor at the rear.

The Shropshire-based company says that due to their design expertise the bike places the child's weight at the ideal place for negotiating technical terrain and cornering at speed. A low bottom bracket height and size-specific crank also give optimal clearance and leverage for children.

"We are constantly looking for ways to improve the fit and ease of riding for children. It's much easier to be good at something when you're on the right bike," said marketing manager Tom Payton.

Islabikes was established in 2006, offering bikes for children aged from two onwards.
