More than 28 miles of family-friendly adventure bike trails are opening in the North York Moors National Park tomorrow.
The new trails at the Sutton Bank National Park Centre include three off-road routes, six road routes and a skills park for younger children. They were developed over two years by Sutton Bank Bikes, Pace Cycles and national park staff.
The official launch takes place tomorrow (19 July) at the Sutton Bank National Park Centre from 10am to 4pm. There will be a day of activities to celebrate, including a mini time trial competition for children, free 1.5-hour bike hire for families, the chance to win a Cube mountain bike, and a 25 percent discount on accessories and clothing in the Sutton Bank Bikes shop, which also offers cycle hire.
The trails are all graded according to ability, and the surfaces prepared where necessary, so there's something for everyone from complete beginners to experienced mountain bikers. Adrian Carter, of Pace Cycles, said: "With six road-cycling routes and many quiet country lanes, we can offer something for both road and off-road riders, which we believe is unique for a trail centre in this country."
The centre is nearly 1,000ft above sea level, so riders can enjoy spectacular views as they expore the trails.

Michael Graham, assistant director of park services, said: “This venture builds on the legacy of the Tour de France and the national park’s belief in promoting cycling for all on its scenic bridleways and trail centres. Thanks must go to our rangers, field staff, apprentices and volunteers who have worked around the clock on creating and signing the trails.”
