Even the most talented world class cycling superstars started out at a local club - that's the message the organisers of Join In Local Sport are trying to get across in their new campaign.

The Olympic legacy charity are organising their inaugural 'Join In' weekend on 18-19 August to encourage members of the public to take part in introductory lessons in sports they haven't tried before, with sports clubs up and down the country hosting their own events.

The video below sees David Cavendish, father of the World Road Racing Champion Mark, talk about his son's involvement in cycling from a young age and how opportunities to participate as a youth helped him to where he is today.
