The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Felt Bicycles have issued a voluntary recall of 1,450 F1X cyclo-cross bicycles from the 2007/08 model years, due to a faulty fork steerer.
According to Felt, the bicycle’s aluminium fork steerer tube can break, causing the rider to lose control, fall and suffer injuries. There have been six reports of these forks breaking, with minor injuries reported in two of the incidents.
The recall includes all 2007/2008 Felt F1X cyclo-cross bicycles, manufactured in Taiwan. These bicycles were available in semi-matte black finish, and had aluminium frames with carbon fibre forks.
Felt dealers nationwide sold the 2007/08 Felt F1X cyclo-cross model between July 2006 and April 2009 for between US$1,449 and $1,499.
Consumers should contact their local Felt Bicycles dealer to receive a free inspection and repair.
