This month's mag is a Bike of the Year special and we've crowned winners from a test of 20 top trail and enduro bikes

This month’s mag is our special Bike of the Year issue. Our test team, headed by technical editor in chief Rob Weaver and BikeRadar’s senior tech writer Tom Marvin, have been busy throughout the winter and spring months selecting some of the most interesting bikes currently on the market for our prestigious awards.

This year we’re running two categories: Best Trail Bike of the Year, which covers bikes with 110mm to 140mm of travel, and Best Enduro Bike of the Year, which pits machines with 150mm to 175mm of travel against each other.

A huge list of bikes was whittled down to 20 (ten in each category) with Rob and Tom racking up hundreds of testing miles between them, so you can be sure that you’re getting the complete picture in our reviews.

It all culminated in a trip to San Remo, Italy for a final showdown and you can find out which bikes were crowned the winners in the mag.

Rob and Tom aren’t the only ones to have been riding in sunnier climes this month with staff writer Ed jetting of to South Africa for a filming trip with none other than multiple DH champ Greg Minnaar.

He joined the South African legend on the set of GAMBLE, the year’s most hotly anticipated downhill film, and we bring you an exclusive behind the scenes feature in this month’s mag.

Still on the subject of downhill racing, we met up with a racer whose career is just beginning.

Norway’s Mille Johnset might only be 17, but she’s already been setting the scene alight between the tape. We go riding with her at Hafjell Bike Park and get the lowdown from her mentor Rachel Atherton.

It’s a tour of the north this month in our Wrecking Crew and Big Ride sections with a trip to Grizedale in the Lake District with Adam Brayton and friends, and then the remote and stunning moorland singletrack of Baysdale, North Yorkshire.

Southerners fear not though, we’ve still got route maps for The Black Mountains in Wales, Cornwall and the Kentish Coast.

Just in time for the sun, we’ve tested 15 trail riding jerseys that are ideal for the warmer months, and our six of the best test this month is basic tool kits for keeping your ride in tip-top shape.

Besides this, we’ve got standalone reviews on Spank and DT Swiss wheelsets, Bontrager and Vittoria tyres as well as protection from Endura, Scott and O’Neal — plus loads more besides.
