Mountain biking in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland’s new network of trail centres make for a great mountain biking weekend away

Just the other month we headed out for a three-day tour of Northern Ireland’s newest trail centres, taking in Rostrevor, Castlewellan and Davagh Forest. We were amazed at the wealth of great riding now on offer over there.

Some real investment and development over the last few years has certainly made it somewhere to head if you're looking for an affordable and reachable mountain bike getaway.

One of the top destinations on the trip were the trails at Rostrevor. We were joined by top Northern Ireland downhiller Glyn O’Brien whose boundless enthusiasm led us down the Mega Mission trail among others.

You can see (and hear!) Glyn’s run of that one below and check out the rest of the trip in the March issue of Mountain Biking UK magazine – on sale 6 February.
