As part of our team membership we are required to fill out a weekly training log for our coach, Ben Simmons. This includes our resting heart rate, weight, a rating of our sleep and our “feel good factor”. We also have to fill in details of any rides we have done and any other exercise we may have completed. To help us fill this in, Ben sent us an example. Included in this example were one hour of “core stability” (ONE HOUR!!!) and 20 minutes of stretches. I was feeling fairly virtuous on Sunday evening, and decided to work through the yoga stretches in this month’s Cycling Plus, in front of the highlights of Paris Roubaix. All very good, and I was able to record 20 minutes of stretches on my training log while feeling quite smug.
There’s nothing better than a shiny new bike to get you motivated, and on Wednesday I took delivery of a Verenti Millook, courtesy of our Wiggle sponsorship. First impressions were that it was remarkably light and looked the business with a glossy black paint job and red cabling. Managed to get out for a 33 mile blast on it on Thursday. It’s a more upright riding position than my Focus Cayo, but despite this I managed the fastest average speed of the year.
