Get your diaries out and make a note of two dates coming up when you have the chance to test ride dozens of new-for-2009 bikes from four of the most prestigious manufacturers around.
One of the recent Tour of Britain’s most exciting stages saw Team Columbia’s Edvald Boasson Hagen outmuscle Danilo Di Luca over the spectacular roads in Dalby Forest. On Sunday October 26, staff from Procycling, Cycling Plus, BikeRadar.com and Cyclingnews.com will be joined at Dalby by four manufacturers who will be giving our readers the chance to test ride a number of bikes from their 2009 ranges.
The four manufacturers who will be at Dalby all that Sunday are Trek, Colnago, Raleigh and Lapierre. Among the bikes that will be available for test are Raleigh’s Avanti Carbon Race, which was a big hit at the recent London Cycle Show, Lapierre’s X-Lite 400 as ridden by Philippe Gilbert and his team-mates at Française des Jeux, Colnago’s stunning C50 and several bikes from Trek’s extremely popular Madone 5.2 range.
The circuit at Dalby is stunning, includes a good hill to test the bikes both climbing and descending, and will be on mostly closed roads.
A week later, our National Road Bike Series demo day moves south to the bike circuit at Hillingdon in west London. The same brands will be available for test on Hillingdon’s closed road circuit. Once again staff from our bike titles and websites will be on hand to offer testers their advice and input.
