Wardrobe mistress

Don’t know if it’s the sight of daffodils outside, or because for months this office has been filled with men in muddy, dowdy cycling gear, but I’ve been craving a little bit of colour in my sporting wardrobe.

Don’t know if it’s the sight of daffodils outside, or because for months this office has been filled with men in muddy, dowdy cycling gear, but I’ve been craving a little bit of colour in my sporting wardrobe.

As usual, Minx Girl has plenty of tempting offers, and this month I have been mostly fancying these blinging shoe covers with their hot rod-style flames.

Also at Minx are these capri pants, called Harlot Scarlet X, with their fantastically named Beaver Comfort Zone padding system.

The latest Howies catalogue has also arrived, and I’ve got my eye on the SlateRiver waterproof jacket, which has received rave reviews from the boys on What Mountain Bike and MBUK. (Why are the boys offered some nice bright colours, though, when us girls are stuck with white or black?)

Competing with the Howies jacket for my affections is this cycling-specific waterproof from Altura, which is, frankly, lovely.

My Rapha gilet has had loads of use this winter, and I’d love – if funds allow – to get Rapha’s softshell jacket as well.

Just because I’m a laydee doesn’t mean I automatically like pink, but in this case I think I can make an exception. The Swobo women’s jersey looks great, and the merino wool will help to avoid the dreaded BO.

This hoody from Kona, with its ‘talking bike’ logo will be just the thing for chilly spring days and summer evenings.

Now, there’s just the question of how to pay for all this…
