With BikeRadar Live now only a matter of hours away MBUK Towers is pretty manic. The stand needs sorting, vans need packing and sacrificial lambs need offering up to the sun gods.
All that said, me and Rob have buggered off for a day of testing the all-new 2011 Fox suspension range with Mojo‘s Chris Porter.
We’re over in Cwmcarn enjoying typically Welsh mizzle, coffee and uplifts.
Mojo is a pretty cool place to visit – a mini army of technicians busy themselves with fettling and tuning all manner of Fox suspension. There are aisles and aisles of carefully labelled spares and the pleasing smell of bike grease and spray lube hangs in the air. Chris plies us with coffee and shows us around his monster KTM enduro bike whilst Pete the mechanic sets up some all-new Fox forks on our bikes – there are a lot worse places to be.
With the new forks fitted we stashed our long-termers in the van and headed to Cwmcarn with Chris. The rain started to whip down just as we rolled through the gates.
All was going pretty well though until half way down the first XC descent. I managed to roll my rapidly deflating (unbeknown to me until recently) front tyre off the rim on a steep bermed bank. Straight off, flat-out into some bushes with bike following me in afterwards.
After rolling around and swearing a bit I managed to get back down to the van and that’s as far as we’ve got really! Weavs and Chris are off for their third runs of the day and I’m typing this… Big bike next to give the new 40s a go.
It definitely beats being at the desk! Stay tuned for some techy stuff on the forks pronto.
