Mountain biking in the UK only really took off in the late 80s and, at the forefront of the scene, championing everything about it from the very beginning was MBUK.
Launched in 1988, the magazine has produced some of the craziest stunts possible on a mountain bike, as well as getting readers up close and personal to the race scene and its pro riders, taking them on the wildest adventures around the world.
Three bikes are up for grabs in the £9,000 giveaway Immediate Media
To mark this impressive milestone the team behind MBUK has put together a special collector’s edition featuring a recreation of a classic Jason McRoy cover, courtesy of Brendan Fairclough, as well as a free Mint Sauce keyring and a chance to win one of three amazing bikes from DMR, Specialized and YT in a £9,000 bike giveaway.
Throughout the issue there are plenty of nods to MBUK’s heritage, as Editor-in-Chief Danny Walter tells us. “We’ve had a great time looking back over our archives and shaping the issue’s content around some of the things we did back in our very first issues – such as testing some of the brands from our first bike test, hitting an original 80s route with its creator Tim Flooks and chatting to Mint Sauce cartoonist Jo Burt.
“But we didn’t want to make this just a retrospective — so there are plenty of new features, tests and areas of advice to inspire readers to get the most out of every ride they go on.”

Also in the issue, the team takes a look at the changing fashion of mountain biking over the years and visits the legendary PORC track to see how it’s reinvented itself. Meanwhile, see what makes a truly memorable mountain bike event at the Fort William World Cup and Malverns Classic.
And for all the Mint Sauce (MBUK’s very own cartoon MTB sheep) fans out there, there’s a free collector’s keyring.
