Team BikeRadar at the MTB World Cup, Bromont – Race Day
Practice started early this morning at 8.30. I did two runs, the course was really difficult today – it was half way between wet and dry which meant it was proper slippy. I felt like all my practice had been a waste of time, but was reassured by Donny and Will because they were both having the same trouble.
I put in a solid qualifying run in with only a couple of minor mistakes, I qualified 6th which was really cool. I was happy and felt confident for the final. Final time came round after a small shower during the women’s race. It didn’t seem to change to much as the women still went faster than qualifying.
My run went good, the top section was amazing, and the best I have ridden for a long time, hitting all my lines just as I wanted. The bottom section I knew it would be slippery and rode cautious to avoid crashing. I came in to the finish to knock Brendan Fairclough out of the hot seat. I did not stay there long as Greg Minnaar was next down and he knocked me to second place.
It was really good to get back on the podium and back to where I feel I should be each weekend. I’m looking to build on this through to the end of the year now.
