Team BikeRadar’s Neil Donoghue reports from Fort William

After round three of the British National Points Series

Back up to FortWilliam for the third round of the National Points Series, the track was as rough and tough as usual. I went pretty steady in practice because the track was the same as the world cup and I have ridden it so many times.

I reckon I could draw a map of the track and every rock, root and turn just from memory! Practice went well and I felt confident with my bike setup.  I rode seeding really well at the top of the track, nice and smooth but felt pretty fast. I got all out of shape in the woods and also coming out of them and pretty much stopped twice. I finished fifth but felt like I could probably take a good eight or ten seconds off my time with a good tidy run on Sunday.

I felt good on Sunday and only did two practice runs in the morning, saving my energy for the final run. It turned out to be a frustrating run where nothing went quite right, nothing too wrong but definitely not as fast as I should have gone.

I only took two seconds off my seeding time and finished fifth again. Not what I wanted, but it isn’t a bad result overall and I am still in with a shout of winning the series. Next race is the National Championships, a race I always look forward to and this year it is on one of my favourite tracks – Bala.
