The Veglo Commuter X4 is a four-strapped cycling light that’s designed to be worn by cyclists. It creates a unique shape in order to give other road users multiple focal points, and help drivers better judge the distance, width and speed of cyclists. It’s available to order for £39.99 from the Veglo website, just in time for the clocks going back in the UK.
The water-resistant, USB chargeable light, which can be worn on a backpack or over the shoulders, won second place in the British Inventors’ Project at the Gadget Show Live and reached 120 per cent of its funding goal on Kickstarter.
Veglo also won the Shell Live Wire Business Award in July, and designer Ed Ward – who developed the Commuter X4 after being knocked off his bike from behind in London – is now in the ‘Hot 48’ shortlist for the 2014 Young entrepreneur of the year competition. The company is also in The Pitch UK’s final 30, Britain’s biggest small business competition, and was also nominated in the final 12 from 700 brands in the John Lewis Pitch Up competition.
