Bontrager – whether you're referring to the man or the brand that bears his name – has had an interesting history in cycling and mountain biking. Keith Bontrager started off as a frame builder who built some of the most coveted mountain bikes of the 1980s and 90s. Bontrager is a tinkerer, always striving to create better components. His adage "strong, light, cheap – pick two!" drove his design philosophy and drew the attention of Trek, who purchased Bontrager's company in 1995.
Bontrager still has a hand in designing the parts that adorn many Trek bicycles, and which are also popular aftermarket items.
BikeRadar's Bontrager page brings you all the latest news and reviews of Bontrager products, such as the Race X Lite IsoZone VR-CF handlebar, Lithos helmet, Rhythm MTB shoes, Ion light, Marquette jacket and other accessories, as well as an interview with the man himself – and a look inside Bontrager's Wisconsin wheel factory.
