Enigma Carbon bottle cage review

Its sculptured lines and seductive carbon detailing suggest this cage, made inTaiwan from industry standard 3K carbon wrap, might be form over function. But used continuously in very different situations, it has impressed me more than cages twice the price.

Dependable wallet friendly 3 K winged-carbon cage

Its sculptured lines and seductive carbon detailing suggest this cage, made inTaiwan from industry standard 3K carbon wrap, might be form over function. But used continuously in very different situations, it has impressed me more than cages twice the price.

Bottle entry and exit is effortless - my bottle slid into the winged cage with so little resistance I was convinced it would eject at the first bump. But thundering along poorly surfaced back lanes under normal conditions, I couldn't persuade a standard bottle to eject so I swapped it from fixer to crosser and headed for local woodland.

There was no annoying rattling, whatever course I took, and yet would release first snatch - a real bonus for anyone who's struggled to draw a bottle at the crucial point in a race only to find it won't budge.

At almost £1 a gram, there's some justification for saying it's only worthwhile for those who've shaved weight everywhere else, but in fairness it's a very nice cage in its own right and if you just wanted carbon for carbon's sake, this might be the most wallet-friendly way of going about it.
