The Debar is a very lightweight and highly packable waterproof jacket, especially considering it has a full mesh lining. Most jackets this light are a single layer, but without too much of a weight/bulk penalty the Debar's mesh makes it more comfortable against bare skin and keeps it from clinging on to damp underlayers. The material has proven reliably waterproof and breathable, considering it's not pricey Gore-tex, with a waterproof front zip and storm flap to keep out sprays.
The cut is very appealing too - it's loose enough for layering but not too baggy to flap or catch air. Sleeve length is plenty long and the cuffs are non-elasticated with Velcro straps. Features are minimal but purpose driven, including an angled rear pocket opening with waterproof zip and good reflective strips, drawcords at the hem and neck to keep out draughts, and reflective markings on the back. A little bit of fleece behind the zip at the neck is another nice touch.
