Superb quality and great styling but it is expensive

This 100 percent merino wool top from Twin Six features embroidered logos on the chest and arms, and collegiate style Speedy Bike Club Minneapolis (the home of Twin Six) motif emblazoned across the back.

It’s cut very well – not too casual and big enough to wear over a base layer and jersey. The collar and cuffs are heavily ribbed and close fitting to keep out chills, and there’s a chest length zip for cooling down. Also the cuffs are long so you don’t get gaps between jersey and gloves.

As a ‘classic’ trainer the wool is a heavyweight, and on cold, dry days it kept us warm without getting heavy with moisture. As the jersey is made for Twin Six by Woolistic – makers of the best merino replica jerseys available – construction quality is superb.

We were happy to use it for training and general riding, but it's best for shorter commutes as its understated styling is smart enough for the office. At around £115 at current exchange rates it is a bit on the steep side, though. Also available in grey and in sizes XS to XXL.
