Five Ten Impact 2 Mid shoes review£74.99

Ultimate flat pedal grippers

BikeRadar score4.5/5

We don’t know anyone who’s tried Five Tens and gone back to another brand, and this high-top model adds weather protection to the astonishing Stealth rubber performance.

The fat padded tongue and upper is designed for impact protection rather than weather beating, but the non-mesh ‘Action leather’ upper still shrugs off the worst of the wet and wintery stuff, keeping life bearable even on snowy runs and rain-lashed lift lines.

It’s the most slippery conditions that really showcase the trademark Stealth S1 sole. These shoes stay stuck to your pedals long after everything else has slid off and dumped you into the muck.

He worked the other side of those windows from '89 while getting a degree in “describing broken things covered in mud" (archaeology). Dug historical holes in the ground through the early '90s, then became a pro bike tester in '97. Guy has ridden thousands of bikes and even more components the world over since then and can remember them all in vivid, haunting detail. Can't remember where the car keys are, though.
