The latest version of the MX 101s is packed with features. There're three side reflectors and one on the heel, with plenty of mesh all round, making this a good summer shoe. An elastic tab tames the laces, while a durable outer heel counter keeps scuffs at bay - though the toe bumper is a bit lacking. Padding is fairly minimal, expect for the tongue. In terms of fit, the cut is narrow, though they don't taper as much in the toe area as the Minnrets. Wide sizes exist, but aren't currently available in the UK (they should be next year). There's a bit of flex in the forefoot and good heel tread for grip on wet surfaces. The Vibram sole, borrowed from the hiking world, is excellent and hardwearing - but the main disappointment is the lack of cleat depth for a cycling shoe.
