Robust, casual looking shorts that are good for shorter jaunts and post-ride slouching

This is our favourite bike/casual chameleon short. It looks pretty damn fine for slouching around, and while its performance doesn’t quite match the most highly specified mountain bike shorts in terms of construction, its good cut and fit means it easily out-rides many others we’ve tried that appear more ‘techy’.

It’s not just down to the cut – the removable liner is a good quality mesh and incorporates a flexible seamless pad that’s comfortable and remarkably unobtrusive. The fabric is on the robust side so it’s not a long distance choice, but it does add to the all-round wearability. If you like to stash all your worldly belongings in your pockets you won’t be disappointed – the Sergeant has six, including two angled cargo style ones for easy access when riding.
