Scott Voltage review

Scott clothing often gets overlooked, but it does a really good range of stylish and functional kit. The Voltage shorts come with the 'shorts basic padded underwear' which are as basic as they sound, particularly when it comes to the pad.

Reasonable, loose cut casual short for posing or pedalling

Scott clothing often gets overlooked, but it does a really good range of stylish and functional kit.

The Voltage shorts come with the 'shorts basic padded underwear' which are as basic as they sound, particularly when it comes to the pad. They're serviceable enough for shorter distances though and the two piece design increases versatility for lounging/swimming. Obviously you can upgrade to another liner if you want too (Scott Bib shorts work well). The outer shell is lightweight and cut loose for a casual look, but that means a bit of flap and thigh flashing when riding. A small stretch patch in the crotch minimises rub, and the broad stretch panel in the back keeps them high. Twin side straps give easily adjustable fit and there's a proper zipped fly and two cargo and two hand pockets. The ripstop fabric dries quickly and shrugs off scuffs plus the baggy cut keeps the shorts cool overall.
