Good-looking, solid performers that are best suited to speed demons

The Raptor's 26/38T ring combination is a little on the large side for a trail-friendly double crankset. The 38’s good on fast, open trails, but some riders may struggle going up climbs on a big bike with a 26.

The meaty bashguard is nearly an inch larger in diameter than the 34T capacity ones found on other mountain bike doubles and not far off the size of a 44T chainring. On the upside, the forged 7075 arms are smoothly shaped and low profile, and include extra lip seals.

They’re hollowed out around the back, but a central ridge near the axle adds material to the key area and boosts stiffness. Shorter-legged riders may wish to look elsewhere though – the Raptors are available in 175mm only.
